On Tuesday, Jan. 27, an Iowa man went viral after spontaneously praying for President Donald Trump while President Trump visited the Machine Shed restaurant in Urbandale, Iowa.
Trump’s restaurant stop came as he prepared to give a speech in Des Moines to encourage Republican support for this year’s midterm elections in November.
Video footage shows the man asking Trump if he could pray for him as the president greeted people at their tables.

“Absolutely! Come on. Let’s go,” Trump replied.
“Lord we give you thanks for this president, Lord. Thank you for your hand of protection [on him],” the patron prayed. “Pray for continued wisdom. Pray for discernment.”
“I pray for health. I pray for more peace, Lord,” the man continued. “And I just pray for protection against the world, the devils, the flesh, and all principalities, Lord. Thanks for the Spirit. In your name we pray, Jesus, Amen.”
Following the prayer, Trump expressed his appreciation and addressed the entire restaurant.
“Great people here. Great people in Iowa. They are amazing people,” Trump said.

Before walking away, he acknowledged those who had prayed for him and added, “Thank you.”
Last year in Iowa, Trump invited Americans to pray for the United States as it prepares to celebrate 250 years of freedom.
“As we prepare to celebrate two-and-a-half centuries of freedom, I am inviting America’s great religious communities to pray for our nation and for our people,” Trump said. “From the beginning, this has always been a country sustained and strengthened by prayer.”
“So important, if we bring religion back stronger, you’re going to see everything get better and better and better,” said President Trump. “You are going to see it get better and better.”
“So, as we chart our course for the next 250 years, let us rededicate ourselves to one nation under God,” he added.
In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the White House posted an invitation titled “Prayer and Rededication to the United States as One Nation Under God.” The initiative encourages Americans to “join with at least 10 people to meet each week for one hour to pray for America.”
“This dedicated time of prayer is not only for our nation, but for its people because a nation is only as strong as its citizens,” the invitation stated.
