When an inquiry is made into whether a congregation should be disfellowshipped, the Credentials Committee contacts the church to follow up before making a recommendation about whether the SBC should discontinue its relationship with the church.

According to Baptist Press, the Credentials Committee indicated that The Crossing Church and Zion Temple Baptist Church both showed a “lack of intent to cooperate to resolve a question of faith and practice.”

Both churches will have the opportunity to appeal the decision of the Executive Committee at the annual meeting of the SBC in June. The meeting will be held in Orlando, Florida.
