‘Marriages Are Under Attack’—What Kathie Lee Gifford Has Learned About Marriage and God’s Faithfulness

“I think marriage should be a holy alliance,” Gifford told Fox. “Now, there are reasons why certain people should get divorced, and they have physical reasons to … I don’t know their first story. I just know that I’m sorry to them and their children.”

Kathie Lee Gifford married football player and sports commentator Frank Gifford in 1986. It was his third marriage, and the couple remained married until Frank passed away in 2015, with their relationship surviving the public scandal of Frank’s infidelity in 1997. “We struggled after that for a long time,” Gifford told Entertainment Tonight, “We stayed together, we saved our marriage, we saved—by God’s grace—our children. I knew my children would be very, very different people if we had broken up at that time. But all these years later, I hear from people all the time who say I’m still married because of what you went through.”  

Gifford says her faith helped her to heal from her past wounds. “I made it through with God’s love,” she said. “And with God’s love, you can face anything.”
