Although speaking out has been challenging for Fisher, she says it’s also life-changing. “There is work that can only be done by taking this step,” she says. “And feeling that pain that I was avoiding…is a lot. The protection sort of ends, you know? It’s a big moment for me, that’s for sure.”

Fisher, who’s being hailed as resilient, admits she also feels lucky, even though that word was banned in the Willis “clan.” Growing up, “There was no such thing as luck; it was all God’s will,” she says. “But [luck] still feels like the best word.”
