Newly Published Emails Shed Light on Pastor John Blanchard’s Sex Sting Case; Attorney’s Office Changes Course

Another email, whose sender’s name was redacted, stated that the attorney’s office believed they “wouldn’t get anything out of a misdemeanor conviction, and the better outcome was that Blanchard receive the sex offender counseling, which contained components of a psychosexual evaluation.”

In the Jan. 17 email from Katz to Davenport, the police chief asked Davenport to reconsider charging Blanchard with a felony and to withdraw her consent to seal the records involved in the investigation. He also requested that she appoint a special prosecutor.

On Monday, Feb. 6, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office changed its position when Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney LaToya Croxton filed a motion objecting to Blanchard’s motion to expunge the records. The following day, Blanchard’s attorney filed an opposing motion, objecting on the grounds that the window for this action had passed.

Rock Church has said that, under advice from its legal counsel, it cannot make any public statement on the allegations against John Blanchard. ChurchLeaders has reached out to Stacey Davenport for comment and will update this article in the event of any reply.
