President Biden Criticized for Joke When Asked If Christians Were Targeted at Nashville Shooting

Speaking about his faith, Hawley said, “I know that these parents as believers know that we don’t grieve as those without hope—that we look forward to the day when these kids are raised again. But listen: this is a terrible, terrible tragedy. Biden should be acknowledging the targeting of people of faith. He should be saluting the law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line and saved hundreds of kids.”

Hawley expressed that the president should be standing with people of faith, saying, “We’re going to call it for what it is—a hate crime. And we’re going to do a full investigation to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton also responded to Biden’s remark, saying, “First, it was the ice cream jokes, and now this—two days of laughs from Biden about a horrific school shooting. Fundamentally indecent.”

Cotton was referring to Biden making a joke about ice cream in the opening moments of a press conference that took place mere hours after the deadly incident.
