Other people on social media questioned the athlete’s message. Someone tweeted: “I initially thought it was a great answer. Then I stopped to think about why he’s paid $40 million USD per year (?). Maybe more importantly why the average fan pays $100 USD to watch him play. His response is great for amateurs. It’s a total cop out for professionals.”

Another person responded: “I mean sure they might have failed to reach their goal but they didn’t fail at their jobs. The reason he’s paid $45m a year is cuz he’s a top 3 player in basketball, not cuz they expect him to carry the team to a championship.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been praised for his loyalty to the Bucks and for his humility, which he has described as his “mindset.” He’s been called an “MVP-caliber leader” as well as an MVP-caliber player.
