After the preseason victory, Bills head coach Sean McDermott had high praise for Hamlin, saying the third-year player gave a “truly remarkable display of courage and strength and faith.” McDermott added, “He trusts his preparation and God. I think that shows a lot about who he is.”
The team has allowed Hamlin to return to football at his own pace, according to the coach. McDermott said the Bills are “trying to make it as normal as possible” for Hamlin and will “support him through this.”
The Bills medical staff, which has been honored for its response to Hamlin’s medical emergency, is keeping a close eye on the athlete. “I know he’s in good hands with those docs, as well,” McDermott said.
