Casting Crowns’ Lastest Album, ‘Healer’

There were dark days for Casting Crowns, for sure. Each band member, along with the rest of the world, felt isolated and upended during the 2020 pandemic. Lead singer and songwriter, Mark Hall, did what he knew best—”he wrote from the heart.”

“I was walking through the world being shut down, just like everybody else. I’ve been a youth pastor for over twenty years and here I was counseling teenagers who’d just lost their senior year, lost their friend groups, felt hopeless for the future,” Hall said on the band’s website. “As I started working on this record, I realized all the songs I was writing dealt with healing in some way, something we all need. And more than that, we need a Healer.”

Then in 2021, former drummer Andy Williams passed away. Hall shared an Instagram post from Andy’s wife, Kelly, saying that Williams had succumbed to injuries from a tragic motorcycle accident. “While we mourn that Andy isn’t here with us, and that we didn’t get to witness the miracle we longed for here on earth, all of our prayers were answered. He is healed, he is awake and we believe that he is more alive today than he has ever been,” said Kelly.

Casting Crowns released “Healer” in 2022, “challenging the listener to seek true healing from Jesus, the only Healer we need.” The band packed up and headed out on tour to dozens of locations across the United States.

“While Healer boasts songs that evoke big emotions, the lighter, fun songs pack just as much of a truth punch,” the band’s website said. “Healer” features top songs “Scars in Heaven” and “Crazy People.”
