On Sunday, CPC elders and members responded to Sauls’ resignation letter in a Q&A session, after which 81% voted in favor of accepting his resignation.
According to Adams, the emotional and “tense” meeting included a standing ovation for Sauls, members asking for more information as to why Sauls chose to resign, and a member who made a number of comments illustrating that “the level of harm is deep, and it is real.”
ChurchLeaders has reached out to Scott Sauls for comment and will update this article in the event of a reply. Christ Presbyterian Church responded to a similar request by saying the church has no comment.
This article has been updated with CPC’s response.
