In conclusion, IHOPKC said that it has heard the “demands to bring in a third party to investigate the organization in general, but this step is premature until IHOPKC can establish the credibility of the allegations and genuine intent of the Complaint Group.”
The ELT added, “It is our sincerest desire that alleged anonymous Jane Does would come forward as soon as possible, either directly to IHOPKC’s attorney, via the Complaint Group or through their own legal representative, so that IHOPKC can then take the appropriate next steps.”
Tchividjian told ChurchLeaders that “it is not the role of IHOPKC to establish the ‘credibility of the allegations.’ That is exactly why institutions engage third-party investigations.”
“Without a legitimate independent investigation, these issues will continue to overshadow IHOPKC for the next 20 years. Unresolved disclosures of abuse don’t simply go away,” Tchividjian said. “In my opinion, this is a travesty on so many levels.”
