“We have been bathed in your Christ-like love for us, and we were ready to go to war with all of you by raging against the darkness and not letting it overcome our fragile hearts by tapping into the Spirit’s strength we all share,” said Morgan.
Day three of Morgan’s journal started off with Psalm 42. “A few things I notice from this Psalm,” he said. “The Psalmist is lamenting deeply while he cries out in faith…He asks God hard (maybe to some it sounds ‘disrespectful’) questions, and yet still worships him in the end.”
Morgan’s words were then followed by Lucy’s prognosis, which he described as “way worse” than any other reports of “penetrating missile-type head injury from a defective badminton racquet.”
“I remember holding her in my arms before EMS arrived, and her pupils were unresponsive even then,” Morgan recalled. “If she was an adult with the same injury, the neurosurgery team may not have operated due to the appearance of unsurvivability.”
Due to the lack of brain activity in the last 48 hours, Morgan wrote that the situation “demonstrates this reality that we are utterly devastated by.” He added, “We will keep waiting on the Lord, getting second opinions, and exhausting every possible avenue while crying out to God for a miracle.”
“However,” Morgan added, “as of now, our beloved daughter has been showing all the signs of brain death for the past few days. There is a very good chance that she passes away and meets Jesus within 24 hours.”

Morgan wrote that it made his “body convulse” as he typed those words.
As he continued to share how he and his wife were processing the past six years of parenting Lucy, Morgan told the thousands of people following their journey, “Please know that the only way I’m sane right now is because of the anchor for my soul that is the unchanging love of God shown in the good news of Jesus Christ,” followed by a brief explanation of the gospel.
“If you are confused about this or this is new for you, I’d love to talk to you about it or help you find someone to help you,” Morgan said as he concluded his day three post.
Just a few hours later, at 4 A.M. on June 5, Lucy passed away.
“No blog post today,” Morgan said on social media. “Lucy Lynn Morgan passed away this morning around 4am. She now sees Jesus face to face. Thank you for all your love poured out to us. Here’s a picture from our goodbyes earlier yesterday on June 4.”
