Controversial Street Preacher Slams Subway, Saying Christian T-Shirts Led to Bigotry

David Grisham, based in Amarillo, Texas, has made headlines for protesting drag queen story hours at public libraries. The traveling preacher also has dressed as the Grinch to proclaim that “Santa is fake. Jesus is real.” In 2010, Grisham and his supporters called for a boycott of Houston after the city elected a lesbian woman as mayor.

“What we tell people is biblical, but the way we do it is unconventional,” Grisham said in 2016. Critics have compared the preacher’s tactics to those of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church, saying he intentionally provokes people to make a profit.
