“The world didn’t give me this joy, the world can’t take it away. I had this new feeling in my heart that the Holy Spirit implanted into me,” Egbuka said. “And so since then, it was really a radical change for me. I started walking more obediently with God. I started seeking him day after day. He’s worked on me, and I’ve had this grace of people in my life to get to this point.”
Others who gave their testimonies at the event were Gee Scott (tight end), J.T. Tuimoloau (defensive end), and former Ohio State running back Master Teague.
Content creator Kevin Walsh shared a highlight reel of the event that included showing people giving their lives to Jesus and getting baptized.
“I can barely put to words how amazing this Jesus revival is on the Ohio State University campus,” Walsh wrote. “Countless attendees surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ, and professed their faith through water baptism.”
In the video Walsh said:
These Ohio State football players just did something on campus that I have never seen before: A free event put on by some of the Buckeyes [sic] biggest stars collected thousands from the Ohio State community and grew even more throughout the night. It was all about sharing their faith in Jesus, which started with everybody coming together to worship, and the energy was amazing.
Walsh shared that each of the Ohio State football players in attendance took the stage to testify of how their “relationship with Jesus has changed their lives and how much God loves each and every person in the crowd.” Following the testimonies, a gospel presentation was given, resulting in “courageous attendees [taking] a leap of faith to come up front and pray a prayer to accept Jesus as their Lord and savior.”
“And it only gets better,” Walsh added. “Late into the night, with everyone taking notice (people watching through windows in nearby buildings), person after person made the decision to get baptized…lives are going to be changed forever.”
According to The Lantern, the student newspaper at Ohio State, an estimated 60 people were baptized. Those who were baptized were given a Bible and led through Scripture reading.
“I don’t think anything I accomplish on that field compares to what is happening right now,” Tulmoloau told the Lantern.
In July, Scott preached at One Church in Gahanna, Ohio. Following his sermon, Scott baptized seven of his teammates.
The No. 2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes play their season opener at home against Akron this Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
