Bishop TD Jakes Endured ‘Hours of Surgery’

“I went through hours of surgery,” Jakes said about his medical incident. Doctors “almost lost me twice, but every time my numbers dropped, your prayers prevailed, and I’m standing here today in the glory of God.”

The bishop added, “I missed you. I thank you…Y’all not going to get that ugly cry out of me tonight. Maybe.”

Jakes expressed appreciation for his family, saying he was grateful God allowed them to gather last week for a Christmas celebration instead of a funeral.

The bishop also thanked his church’s security team as well as his hospital caregivers, including two doctors who attend The Potter’s House. The non-denominational Pentecostal church, which Jakes founded in 1996, has more than 30,000 members and multiple sites.
