Evangelist Franklin Graham will offer the invocation at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday, a task Graham described as “an honor.”
This will be the second time Graham offers an invocation for Trump’s swearing in ceremony.
“It’s my prayer that God will bless you, your family, your administration, and may he bless America,” Graham said at Trump’s first inauguration in 2017.
Since that time, Trump has been impeached twice, prosecuted with numerous charges, handed down a felony conviction, and found liable for sexual abuse. Nevertheless, Graham remains a staunch supporter of Trump, often praising Trump’s policy decisions and lionizing him as a leader.
In the run-up to the Republican National Convention in June 2024, Graham said, “President Trump has been a man of his word ever since I’ve known him. Things that he said he’ll do, he did.”
Speaking about the attempt on Trump’s life earlier that month, Graham said, “God spared his life.”
“When President Trump rose from that platform, he rose with his fists raised in strength, showing America his unshakable resolve to fight for them in this nation,” Graham said.
“I’m grateful and thankful for what he did as the 45th president of the United States,” Graham added. “And I know that as the 47th president, he will keep his word to the American people to make America great once again.”
During the election season, Graham was also vocally critical of Trump’s main opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
In October 2024, Graham expressed frustration with Evangelicals for Harris after the group used old footage of Graham’s father, famed evangelist Billy Graham, in an attack ad against Trump.

“These people don’t have integrity. They are trying to make it look like my father would have supported Vice President Harris,” Graham said. “My father was a strong conservative all of his life, theologically as well as politically.”
