Sirianni, 43, began his pro coaching career with the Chiefs. After defeating them Sunday, he also praised God during a press conference. “He gives us the talents to be in these situations, and the talent to be able to coach football, and the opportunity to be able to coach football,” the coach said about God. “So just gratitude right there.”

One of Sirianni’s rookies, Cooper DeJean, celebrated his 22nd birthday Sunday with an interception that he ran back for a touchdown. The day before the Super Bowl, DeJean reposted this message: “God’s timing, not mine. God’s will, not mine. God’s plan, not mine. God’s glory, not mine.”

After an uncharacteristically poor performance Sunday, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes expressed disappointment but took time to thank God. The three-time Super Bowl champ, an outspoken Christian, thanked fans for their support.

“I let y’all down today,” Mahomes posted. “I’ll always continue to work and try and learn and be better for it. Want to give thanks to God for every opportunity he has given me. We will be back.”
