Pastor Rick Warren’s X account has been hacked, and hackers are promoting a meme coin.

Warren, who founded Saddleback Church in Southern California, retired in 2022 after four decades of pastoring the multisite megachurch.

While Saddleback had long been affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), the church was disfellowshipped in 2023 after Warren changed his stance on the ordination of women.

In a post that, at the time of this article, has been pinned to the top of Warren’s X page, hackers have coopted a previous post Warren made regarding his change of heart on the issue.

“My biggest regret in 53 years of ministry is that I didn’t do my own personal exegesis sooner on the four passages used to restrict women. Shame on me,” Warren wrote during the run-up to an unsuccessful appeal of his church being disfellowshipped from the SBC.

“I wasted those four years of Greek in college & seminary. When I finally did my proper ‘due diligence,’ laying aside 50 years of bias, I was shocked, chagrined, and embarrassed,” Warren went on to say. “Then reading over 100 books on the early church and the history of the Great Commission…demanded my repentance. That journey was both painful and humbling.”

Hackers have now added to the top of that post, saying, “This is exactly why I decided to launch the $LORD coin.”

“I didn’t want to watch traditions and cultural interpretations override the truth any longer,” the post continues. “The $LORD coin on Solana, just like this journey, is a symbol of seeking truth, questioning assumptions, and embracing transformation.”

Several other posts on Warren’s X profile dating back to Wednesday (March 12) also promote the $LORD coin, as well as another meme coin called $CHRIST.

Out of concern for his followers on X, Warren is seeking to get the word out via other social media platforms.
