Phil Robertson’s Health Is ‘Not Good,’ Says Jase, But Family Is Keeping the ‘Spark of Hope and Love Alive’

“We’re trying to get them back together, but they’re dealing with severe issues,” said Jase.

The Robertsons continue to remain close—navigating logistics, telling stories, and visiting the pillars of the family.

“You know, it’s just hard to have a conversation sometimes,” shared Jase as he told of Phil’s deep confusion. “At this stage, I don’t think he’s aware.”

As the family navigates Phil’s declining health, they’re contemplating death and the afterlife. Dasher introduced the concept of entropy, or a gradual decline into disorder. There’s also a longer definition related to physics and thermodynamics that Dasher simplified as “things tear up over time.”

Robertson Family Reflects on the Christian View of the Afterlife

In between funny stories and family memories, brothers Al and Jase Robertson and cousin Zach Dasher continued to hold on to God’s perspective of life and of eternity.

Dasher referred to both Ecclesiastes 3:11, that “God has put eternity in the hearts of men,” and Psalm 90:12: “Teach us, Lord, to number our days.”

The Robertsons have been open about their faith in God, his Word, and his promises. The “Unashamed With the Robertson Family” podcast focuses each episode on stories of faith and family. The podcast began with Phil as a regular, but he hasn’t joined the podcast since his diagnosis.

“I think it’s really important to contemplate your own mortality,” offered Dasher. “We are part of a bigger story,” he said as he described the return of Christ.

Al reflected on the Apostle Paul as Paul was contemplating his own mortality, referring to his life being “poured out” for the sake of Christ. “At some point, we pour it out, and then we cross over,” Al said.

“You know what? My dad’s been pouring it out for 50 years,” he added. “You’re talking about an all-in person.”
