Stetzer praised the partnership-driven approach of TEDS and TWU, indicating it’s a sign of what’s to come for seminaries. He said:
In 2007, I negotiated with LifeWay that I would come there if I could also be an affiliate faculty member at TEDS. For me, there was no place I’d rather be connected to than what was widely referred to as the queen of the seminaries. So, I know personally that this is a watershed moment for theological education. At Talbot, we want the best for the future of TEDS, and we pray this merger will help it thrive. And at the same time, it’s a reminder that we are not going back to the past of theological education. We all need to find new and partnership-driven ways for a robust future in theological education.
