However, technology is enabling his health to improve and allowing him to continue pastoring GCC. MacArthur recorded the episode weeks prior to its release while recovering at home.

In his video update on April 15, MacArthur mentioned that he’d had lung surgery and three heart procedures, explaining that when doctors were “trying to regulate everything…they put me in the hospital and I had to be there seven weeks. So all I can say at this point is, I feel great. I’m ready to come roaring back into the public and pick up my ministry again.”
Grace to You and Phil Johnson posted updates on X as well. “We are so happy to have John back in the studio recording today at GTY,” said Grace to You. “Following months of battling health issues, he continues to progress in his recovery. We are thankful to the Lord for John’s continued leadership.”
“John MacArthur was at Grace to You for a recording session today —his first recordings since last November,” Johnson said. “These broadcasts will air [starting] June 3. His voice is noticeably weak; his thoughts are as cogent as ever.”
