Regarding what he hopes viewers will take away from “Faith of Angels,” Finley said, “Besides the obvious word ‘hope’—which I think this really brings people hope—is that kind of reconnection to community, reconnection to family.”
“To me, the faith of angels, the angels in this story were the community members that never gave up,” said Finley. “On day five, they got the whole community together and searched the entire mountainside.”
“Men, women, children, the elderly, everyone was out there looking for Josh after law enforcement had kind of thrown in the towel,” he observed, “and after help from the state, from the government, it all kind of fell through.”
“And they just kept pushing. And I think that type of resilience is incredible,” said Finley, “and it’s a pleasure to tell their story 35 years later.”
“Faith of Angels” premieres on Great American Family Saturday, April 19, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
