Taking the stage sometime after Magala’s performance, Driscoll said, “A Jezebel spirit opened our event.”

“The same thing that’s used in a strip club for women who have the Jezebel spirit to seduce men,” Driscoll said. “In front of that was a man who ripped his shirt off like a woman does in front of a pole at a strip club.”

Interrupting Driscoll, Lindell instructed Driscoll to step down from the stage, and Driscoll complied.

While the two appeared onstage later in the conference and had seemingly reconciled, Driscoll subsequently reneged on his apology to Lindell, leading to a public falling out between the two pastors. 

Correction: A previous version of this article said that Pastor John Lindell and his wife Debbie founded James River Church. However, they were brought on to pastor the church several months after its founding.
