“The absence of any evidence of any wrongdoing by ‘Pete’ is underscored with the closing of this investigation, which further confirms there was never any mishandling—as falsely argued by some on social media—on the part of Daystar and its leadership,” Daystar stated.

The network reiterated that it takes all abuse allegations “very seriously.” However, Daystar said, “In this matter there is simply no evidence that any alleged abuse was ever committed by ‘Pete.’”

Daystar concluded its statement by expressing sadness for people “who were led to believe the gossip, rumors, and false accusations promulgated on social media.” Daystar also shared gratitude for the “love and support it has received from countless viewers and ministry partners” and said it will “continue in its mission to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ around the world.”

Suzy told The Dallas Morning News that she was informed on Wednesday by the detective overseeing the case that the case was being closed.

“We had prepared our hearts for this,” Suzy said. “When our child finds her voice to speak, we will be there to lift her up. One day, justice will come…there’s no statute of limitations, so whenever she’s ready to open up and talk about what happened to her, it will come out.”

Suzy told her followers on social media that the case will reopen as soon as there is new evidence. “This is not news but let me explain,” she said. “When a case has no new evidence, the police department will close it as a formality UNTIL new evidence OR the victim speaks up. Most children don’t speak until they are adults so this process can take years—we already knew all of this.”

“When our child is ready to speak,” Suzy explained, “she will and the case will be wide open again. Till then we rest and trust God to bring justice. But this is important: ‘Pete’ was NOT EXONORATED (sic) or cleared. The case will reopen the second new evidence comes out.”

There is no statute of limitations in the state of Texas when it comes to sexual assault of a child. “If any new evidence emerges in this case, it will be thoroughly investigated,” said Colleyville Police Department’s Dara Nelson.

“The victim has not made an outcry and detectives obtained no evidence of a crime during the investigation,” the Colleyville Police Department said in a statement as to why the investigation was closed without any charges being filed.

Attorney Mark G. Daniel, who represented “Pete,” said, “There was nothing to ever investigate in the first place,” after hearing the news the investigation had been closed.

Rachel Lamb, Daystar’s director of communications, posted on X for the first time since Jan. 6 saying, “CASE CLOSED!!! ⚖️.”
