Taylor didn’t report the alleged incident and forgave Tait. He said that Tait’s massages and bear hugs stopped after that.
“Taylor and I very much love the Lord, and I personally believe that whenever the Lord wants to expose it, and God is ready to shine the light, he will,” Taylor’s wife shared. “And so, I’m just like, ‘Okay, Lord, if this is what we need to do, we know we need to share this part of what we know,’ then, I believe God will protect [us].”
Taylor and his wife are no longer in the Christian music industry and have chosen to stand in solidarity with another alleged sexual assault survivor whose story is expected to be released by TRR in the coming days.
Newsboys Respond Through Nashville Attorney
Music journalist Jessica Morris reached out to Newsboys for comment. Legal counsel for the band responded with the following statement:
Michael Tait is not, nor has he ever been, an owner of Newsboys. His tenure as lead singer ended in January 2025. During his tenure as one of Newsboys’ lead singers, Mr. Tait was managed by Mr. Dan Pitts of True Artist Management. While we are aware of unsubstantiated aspersions cast via internet towards Mr. Tait and Newsboys by one particular individual, because your questions revolve around the alleged actions and behavior of Mr. Tait, it would be inappropriate for Newsboys to speculate or comment. If what you allege can be supported with evidence, I would imagine Mr. Tait and his representatives will have something to say about the matter. In the interim, we would urge caution before publishing anything that states, implies, or may otherwise be construed to suggest that Newsboys’ owners or management had knowledge of the things you allege. Please be advised that Newsboys reserves all its rights, legal and equitable, in connection with this matter.
