Syrstad’s aim with “Testament” is to encourage followers of Christ to reengage with the biblical story of Acts.
The second audience is those who aren’t followers of Christ but are “exploring” what it means to be one. “I think it’s to show that the Bible is exciting,” he said. “You know, the stories in the Bible—I was going to say the New Testament, but let’s be fair, some of those Old Testament ones are real blockbusters.”
“There is tension, there is drama, there is thrill, there is excitement, you just have to learn how to read it in a different way,” the director added. “So if this can be—Paul writes about milk and meat—if this could be the milk for some people, hey, I’m happy with that. Let’s plant some seeds, someone else [do the] watering, [and] God gives the growth.”
The first two episodes of “Testament,” Season 1, air Sunday, June 8. This season will include eight episodes, and Syrstad shared the show is planned to be a “multi-season show.”
