Jelly Roll Gets a ‘King of Hearts’ Tattoo in Light of Lake’s Upcoming Album
Since Jelly Roll recorded a version of “Hard Faught Hallelujah” with singer-songwriter Brandon Lake, the two have performed together multiple times, including on this season of “American Idol.”
The new duet is featured on Lake’s upcoming album, “King of Hearts,” which is scheduled for release later this month.
“King of Hearts” is Lake’s 11th album. The album also includes the pre-released hits “Daddy’s DNA” and “That’s Who I Praise.”
Lake had a “King of Hearts” tattoo, and now Jelly Roll sports the same tattoo on his left forearm.
“@jellyroll615 HAS NOW BEEN MARKED BY THE ‘KING OF HEARTS,'” Brandon said in a social media post. “MY NEW RECORD KING OF HEARTS IS OUT IN 5 DAYS! WHO’S READY?!”
Fans had mixed reactions to the tattoos. While many expressed concern over their tattoos—especially new ones after coming to know Christ—others were encouraged by the ministry of Jelly Roll and Lake.
“The amount of people who HAVE/will be saved because God joined these two men together is mind blowing,” said one commenter. “Both are reaching an audience they wouldn’t have with out each other. GOD IS SO SO GOOD.”
Another recalled a time she saw Jelly Roll in concert a few years ago with her two young sons, saying, “We sat on the lawn and my youngest took a nap in my lap. We sang, cried and went to church!!! Thank you for what you do. My youngest was 7 at the time and it healed our hearts more than you know.”
