SBC Messengers Do Not Pass ‘Tom Buck Motion’ To Investigate 2021 Incident Involving Mike Stone

Speaking in favor of the motion, Georgia Pastor Erik Smith also compared the situation involving Mike Stone to the denomination’s sexual abuse scandal, and Pressley questioned whether such a comparison was “germane.” 

 Georgia Pastor Griffin Gulledge, who was present for the 2021 incident in question, sought to speak to the issue. However, since he came to the microphone just after the debate had been closed, he was not allowed to speak.

The motion was brought to a vote by messengers raising their ballots. The motion failed.
