Seattle police are searching for an assailant who fatally shot a 28-year-old man at a church event on Thursday evening.
Pursuit Church, where the shooting occurred, is located near the University of Washington. The church’s young adults group was hosting a dinner in the parking lot of the church campus when the shooting occurred.
When officers arrived, they attempted to perform lifesaving measures on the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe that he was the victim of a targeted attack.
The suspect fled the scene in a white Hyundai Elantra with black wheels and a shattered front passenger window. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the shooter.
According to King 5, the victim had recently become an attender at Pursuit Church. His wife and child were present with him at the church event.
“We heard a lot of shots. It sounded like a machine gun,” one witness told The Seattle Times. “There was blood everywhere.”
On Thursday night, Russell Johnson, the pastor of Pursuit Church, took to social media to inform the church and others about the shooting and to ask for prayer.
“While the young adults were gathered for a ministry function, there was a shooting. And a young man who has a wife and a child, was tragically killed,” said Johnson. “The people who were involved in this shooting have fled. Police are looking for the perpetrators now.”
