‘I Tell Jesus Stories’—Dallas Jenkins Reflects on Theatrical Re-Release of ‘What If…’

“I think that my ‘What If…’ moment would have come had I ignored that calling,” he said. “I did follow God’s calling when I listened to him to make ‘What If…’ so I think if I would do anything different in my life, I wish that would have happened earlier.”

He added, “I think that God has always, at key points in my life, reached down and grabbed me and called me to something, and I’ve chosen in those moments to listen and to follow.”

Still, Jenkins wonders if he might have missed earlier promptings.

“I just wish it would have happened earlier, and I think there probably were times when God was trying to get my attention and I wasn’t listening,” he said. “And when I’m facing him someday, I will thank him truly for not letting me die without getting ahold of my life in the way that he did.”

Jenkins said he looks forward to asking God about those moments. “I can’t wait to ask God when I meet him face to face and go, ‘Were there moments when you called me to something and I ignored you, or was that just part of the calling?’” he said. “This movie wrestles with that question.”
