Last year, Jenkins shared that “Joseph of Egypt” would cover some of the backstory of Jacob, Rachel, and Leah. “We’re going to get into the birth of the twelve brothers, and, of course, the forbearers of the twelve tribes of Israel.” Jenkins added, “I can’t wait to show you the next steps in that, so pray for us right now, because as we speak, some of those scripts are being worked on.”

Joseph will be played by Adam Hashmi, and the show is written and executive produced by Craig Wright (“Lost,” “Mr. Peabody & Sherman”). The series will also feature Alexander Siddig (“Foundation,” “Shantaram”) as Jacob, Babak Tafti (“Succession,” “Billions”) as Simeon, Daniel Peera (“The Cleaning Lady,” “NCIS”) as Reuben, and Iris Bahr (“Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Svetlana”) as Leah.
