Professional Athletes Are Using Their Platforms To Honor God
Whatever the sport, many professional athletes have become outspoken about their faith on and off the field (or court). MLB and NFL athletes have spoken about the importance of faith and baptism in their lives.
Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees credits his relationship with Jesus with providing peace and fulfillment that the game lacks.
“He’s given me this platform, given me this ability,” Judge recently said. “The fame, getting the chance to do this is great and all, but it’s not fulfilling as much as the relationship I have with him.”
Caden Smith is focused on more than just the game and understands his influence off the field is also important. The Cleveland Guardians said “the newcomer made an instant impact off the field in 2024, attending several events such as the visit to the Cleveland APL, Guardians Kid’s Club meet & greet, Significant Others Auction and the Batter Up Brunch.”
“My identity is not based in baseball,” Smith said in a pre-game interview. “My identity is based in my faith…That’s something that can’t be taken from me, and it can’t be shaped by the highs and lows of this game.”
