In a recent on-field interview, Savannah Bananas pitcher Andy Archer spoke about his passion for Jesus and the Bible, crediting his Christian upbringing and expressing his desire to learn more from Scripture.
The Savannah Bananas are an exhibition baseball team based in Savannah, Georgia. In partnership with three other exhibition teams, the Bananas play a version of baseball referred to as “Banana Ball,” which incorporates showmanship and fan participation into the competition.
Nevertheless, the games are competitive rather than staged, and the team rosters include former college and minor league players.

The Savannah Bananas’ showmanship includes dances and skits, and the team has performed several TikTok-inspired dances—including a dance to the tune of Forrest Frank’s “Your Way’s Better.”
A social media post featuring Bananas players performing the dance trend went viral, drawing a response post from the popular Christian singer.
Andy Archer is a former college baseball player who joined the Savannah Bananas in 2024. He recently spoke with Sports Spectrum about his faith.
“Jesus is the first and the last,” said Archer. “He is the Son of God. He is God. He is the only reason why I have a chance to experience eternity with my creator in heaven.”
“The whole Bible points to him, starting in Genesis 3, when God—he’s talking to the serpent and he says, ‘I will put enmity between you and the woman’s offspring. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.’ That’s talking about Jesus,” Archer continued. “So you see it all the way from the first book of the Bible all the way to Revelation.”

“[Jesus is] the reason why we’re here,” Archer added. “He’s the reason why I’m playing Banana Ball.”
