“We exist because of the gospel. We exist because of the good news,” Schlueter stated.

Schlueter explained:

I think so often it’s something that we can be proud about when we’re in church together, but then when we’re in the world, we’re kind of timid about it. We don’t like to share it with people. We don’t like to tell people what we did on Sundays or that Jesus actually has our lives. There’s this timidity and there’s this fear around it and even a little bit of like a shame. It’s like, I can’t talk about this. It’s this awkward conversation. So my encouragement to the church is don’t be ashamed of the gospel. Don’t be ashamed of the good news. Don’t be ashamed of what Jesus has done for you because it is the best news out there. It’s the best news possible and we should be so excited to share it to people. And if you’re not excited, like no shame on you, but maybe it’s time to rediscover the gospel. Maybe you’ve forgotten how good the good news really is and so dive into that again. Figure out why is this good news for me? Like, let me be reminded of the good news so I’m not ashamed of it and actually I’m excited to share it with people.

“So that’s my encouragement to the churches,” Schlueter said. “Don’t be ashamed of it, because also when we stop being ashamed of it, we have more reason to worship, we have more reason to evangelize, we have more reason to be in community, and I think that just changes everything.”

The Counting My Blessings Tour featuring Bodie starts Sept. 18 in Savannah, Georgia.
