Lessons from the Transfiguration
Bible scholars have considered the possible lessons from the transfiguration for centuries. Along possible understandings, at least two lessons stand out clearly about the Transfiguration of Jesus:
- Listen to Him! The divine command to “Listen to him” underscores the importance of discipleship, obedience, and attentiveness to Jesus’ teachings and life.
- Encouragement in Times of Trial: For the disciples, and for us, the Transfiguration of Jesus serves as a source of hope and encouragement, especially in times of doubt and suffering. It assures us of Jesus’ lordship over life and death and promises the glory of the Resurrection.
By contemplating this miraculous event, we are encouraged to deepen our faith, to listen more intently to the teachings of Jesus, and to live in the hope of the Resurrection. The Transfiguration thus remains not only a historical event of divine revelation but a continuous source of inspiration and guidance for the faithful on their spiritual journey.
