Greg Laurie: Sometimes We’re Persecuted Because We’re Idiots

I was walking down the street once and there was a guy with a sign and painted in bold black letters with little red flames for effect where these words: “the wages of sin are death!” Now that’s true, right? It’s in the Bible. So, he’s yelling “you’re all going to hell!” He
even seemed to be happy about the fact people were going to hell.
He’s holding the sign and I walked up and
I said, “Excuse me.”
“You’re all going to hell!”
“Pardon me for a second.”
“You’re all going to hell!”
“Yeah”
“What??”
“Your sign says the wages of sin are death, that’s true. Why don’t you put the rest of the verse on the other side? But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. You can flip the sign back and forth like that.”
Then he told me I was going to hell. See that?

And people like that they’ll say, “Oh praise God! I’m being persecuted for righteousness’ sake!”
No you’re being persecuted because you’re an idiot, ok? This is the problem. Sometimes we’re obnoxious, we’re rude, we’re inconsiderate and we wonder why people don’t respond

to what we have to say. Engage them draw them out care about them.
