Based on my church shopping experience, I have decided to make a list of ways to encourage new families to make a return visit to church.

There is a trend happening in churches. Families are attending church less frequently.  In most cases, families that used to attend twice a month are now attending church once a month. Families that used to come once a month are now only showing up at Christmas and Easter.

One of the biggest areas of concern right now is the frequency of church attendance for families. Families that used to attend 3 out of 4 weeks now attend twice a month.  Families that used to attend twice a month now attend once a month or even less.

When I arrive at church on Sunday, any ounce of judgment I once felt toward families trotting in late has been replaced with empathy. “They deserve a round of applause for making it today.” Discover more about how to serve young families.

Some churches have come to recognize that tension exists and have begun to seek ways to engage the families and keep them connected to the faith community even when they are not in the church building.

In the constant busyness of life, use these ideas to get families praying together.
