Guidepost Solutions, which was retained to investigate the handling of sex abuse claims in the SBC, is facing more pushback. On March 31, the governing body of the Florida State Baptist Convention unanimously approved a resolution calling for the SBC's national leaders to cut ties with Guidepost.

On Friday, SBC President Bart Barber took to Twitter to respond to criticism regarding the latest developments in the process to reform the denomination in light of its clergy sex abuse crisis. 

Roughly eight months after Guidepost Solutions released its report on the SBC's sex abuse crisis, the Conservative Baptist Network, a grassroots group of pastors in the denomination, has release a report of their own.

Johnny Hunt resigned from NAMB after Guidepost Solutions alleged he sexually assaulted another pastor’s wife in 2010. Nevertheless, seven months later, Hunt has been cleared by a team of pastors to return to ministry.

David Sills, a former seminary professor and missionary who admitted sexual misconduct, has sued a group of Southern Baptist Convention leaders and entities, claiming they conspired with an abuse survivor to ruin his reputation.

Marshall Blalock, pastor of First Baptist Church, Charleston, S.C., said one of the spiritual lessons he learned through serving on the Sexual Abuse Task Force was how to “think and act with more compassion.”

On Tuesday, the SBC’s Sexual Abuse Taskforce (SATF) gave its highly anticipated report to SBC messengers in Anaheim and presented recommended reforms. Those proposed reforms were overwhelmingly accepted.

With the recent release of the Guidepost Solutions report investigating the SBC Executive Committee’s handling of sexual abuse claims, safety and sexual abuse prevention are on the minds of Southern Baptists.
