The issue of COVID-19 has not been solved. In fact, several states are now reporting more cases of Coronavirus than ever before. Just when you thought it was safe for groups to meet in person, the pandemic seems to be flaring up again in many places.

Fear can come from catching a small glimpse of the news, overhearing conversations between teens or adults and seeing what their parents post and read in social media. So how can we help our children feel safe and secure during all of this? 

Forty preschoolers and 10 staff members were in Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Paducah, Kentucky, when a tornado struck, causing major damage to the building. The staff helped the children to stay calm by having them sing “Jesus Loves Me.” Remarkably, no one was hurt.

It’s natural to want our children to be protected from harm, but lately I’ve been thinking that when we spend all our energy praying for our children to be safe, we are missing something big.

Cowardice repulses us. Central to the human condition is the impulse to celebrate heroes, and despise cowards.
