A sincere, authentic minister of the Gospel desires above all else that the flock of God of which he is the shepherd become mature disciples of Christ who are becoming more and more like Jesus.

I can’t imagine a better scenario or a sweeter season for my first pastorate. I learned that in shepherding, the sheep shape the shepherd.

A faithful expositional ministry will protect the flock from wolves both inside and outside the church. As a shepherd, it’s also our responsibility to identify the wolves.

A verse that has rich meaning today for the church and its leaders during COVID-19 is Proverbs 27:23 which says, “Know well the condition of your flock, and pay attention to your herds…”
