Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary confirmed with Baptist Press today (Oct. 27) that the entity has initiated layoffs a week after announcing steps to rectify a financial environment that could “quickly escalate to a crisis.”

Several months after Paige Patterson was fired as president of SWBTS, he has been asked to teach a course on Christian ethics at a seminary in North Carolina.

The decision was based on “new information confirmed this morning…regarding the handling of an allegation of sexual abuse against a student during Dr. Paige Patterson’s presidency at another institution.”
