During last week’s episode of “This Past Weekend,” comedian and podcaster Theo Von mentioned that he and country music pal Morgan Wallen get together for Bible studies. Von, who has talked about being a spiritual seeker, revealed that tidbit while chatting with fellow comedian Leanne Morgan.

On Von’s Dec. 2 podcast episode, Morgan talked about performing with country artist Wallen in 2014 after “he got kicked off ‘The Voice’” Season 6. While the two were chatting backstage, Morgan said, she “promised [Wallen] a casserole because I thought he was so sweet and darling.”
In response, Von asked Morgan if she wanted him to give the casserole to Wallen, saying, “I’m going to see him tomorrow at Bible study, actually.” Morgan, who has been vocal about her Christian faith, seemed surprised by that news. “Y’all are in a Bible study,” she said. “Is it a Beth Moore? What are y’all studying?”

Comedian Theo Von Attends Bible Study With Morgan Wallen
When asked about his Bible study with Morgan Wallen, Theo Von didn’t reveal any details. “Tomorrow I think we’re watching a movie,” he told Leanne Morgan. “But it is Bible study…I’m not sure what chapter we’re on. I shouldn’t even have said that.”
Morgan, a 60-year-old grandmother, responded, “That’s so sweet”—and admitted that she’s not in a Bible study currently. “I used to be in one when I was raising my children,” she said. “And I need to be disciplined to do it on my own.”
Von replied, “That’s when you need the Lord the most, when you’re raising those little henchwomen and -men.” He promised to tell Wallen hello from Morgan at the next day’s Bible study gathering. Von described Wallen as inspiring and authentic, and Morgan said of the country artist, “I think he’s going to end up preaching.”
