Christian singer Anne Wilson, a longtime fan of Morgan Wallen, recently had the opportunity to open for the country superstar in Seattle and will do so again Aug. 1 and 2 in Santa Clara, California. Wilson, 23, said she is honored to open for two stops on Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” tour—and to get to share the gospel with thousands of concertgoers.

About 65,000 people packed Seattle’s Lumen Field for each of Wallen’s shows on July 25 and 26. Before the first performance, Wilson posted a video calling the event “a dream come true for me.”

The Grammy-nominated and Dove Award-winning singer said, “It just blows my mind to see what God has done in my short little life so far. This is a 100% God story…I can only see the goodness of God, the faithfulness of God and that he writes the best stories.”

Anne Wilson Found Comfort, Inspiration From Morgan Wallen

Wilson, a Kentucky native who now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, is embracing her crossover success. She has performed with Jelly Roll, collaborated with Lainey Wilson (no relation), and heard her songs played on secular country music stations.

At the 2024 K-LOVE Fan Awards, Wilson was named Female Artist of the Year. Also last year, CMT (Country Music Television) named Wilson one of its Next Women of Country.

Through hits such as “My Jesus,” “The Cross,” and “Rain in the Rearview,” Wilson shares the gospel’s message of hope with listeners. “God Story,” her new EP, comes out Aug. 1.

Ahead of that release, the singer wrote of the title track, “If you’ve lived through something that only [God] could’ve carried you through, this one’s for you.”

Wilson herself has “lived through something”—and credits Wallen’s music with being a huge help. After her older brother died in a car accident in 2017, Wilson sat by his graveside listening to country music. Wallen’s material “inspired me to go back in the writing room and really stick to my roots, or country, Christian stuff,” she said.

“He continues to inspire me,” she said.
