U.S. golfer Scottie Scheffler has held the No. 1 ranked spot for more than two years. At the age of 29, Scheffler’s stats and accomplishments far outweigh his two main priorities in life—his faith and his family.
“This is not the be all, end all,” admitted Scheffler when speaking about golf. “This is not the most important thing in my life.”

Scheffler recently won The Open Championship by an astonishing final score of 17 under par. Harris English of the U.S. came in second with 13 under par, followed by U.S. golfer Chris Gotterup finishing at 12 under par.
The Open was played on the Dunluce Course in Northern Ireland from July 17-20, and the winner took home a purse of $17 million.
Earning his fourth major championship in his career, Scheffler is only the 31st person to achieve four or more major titles. He’s also won 17 PGA Tour events. But the golfer doesn’t let the stats get to his head.
“I have worked since I was two years old to have a chance to play professional golf for a living,” said Scheffler. “And now I’ve been able to win tournaments that I just dreamed about playing in. It’s an amazing feeling, and I’m so grateful to be able to live out my dreams.”
In another press conference this year, Scheffler described winning—the incredible moment of celebration that brings “tears to his eyes.” But the moment is quickly over, leaving his family considering, “What are we gonna eat for dinner?”
“Life goes on,” explained the pro golfer.
Scheffler explained that while he loves to win and relish the fulfilling moments, he doesn’t consider his role as a professional athlete to be fulfilling in the long run.
“It’s not fulfilling from a sense of the deepest places of your heart,” admitted Scheffler.
Scottie and Meredith Scheffler have been married nearly five years and share one son, Bennett, who was born in 2024.
“My faith & my family is what’s most important to me… I don’t think I’m anything special because some weeks I’m better at shooting a lower score than other guys are.” 👏
