When Brock Purdy missed training-camp practice last week, he had a great reason. Soon afterward, the 25-year-old San Francisco 49ers quarterback and outspoken Christian shared the joyful news that he and wife Jenna were new parents.
“Life just became a whole lot sweeter,” Purdy wrote on Instagram, next to a photo of the proud parents with daughter Millie Joleen Purdy. The baby shares a middle name with mom Jenna.
The Purdys, who married in March 2024, had kept their pregnancy private, so the birth announcement caught many fans by surprise.
“Now that was a well-kept secret,” one person wrote online.
Brock Purdy Is Now a Girl Dad
Brock and Jenna Purdy met at Iowa State University, where Brock played football and Jenna played volleyball. When the college sweethearts got engaged in July 2023, Brock captioned a proposal photo, “I can’t wait to be your husband and grow together in Christ.” Sharing the same image, Jenna wrote, “I love everything about you & your heart for Jesus more than any words can say.”
Next to an image from their wedding ceremony, Brock wrote, “Jenna Joleen Purdy. My wife. No matter the circumstances in our life, Jesus will always be our firm foundation. I love you JP. Ecclesiastes 4:12.”
In the 2022 NFL Draft, Brock Purdy was the final pick, earning the tongue-in-cheek title Mr. Irrelevant. During his impressive rookie season, the QB led his team to the NFC Championship Game. The following year, San Francisco made it all the way to the Super Bowl but fell short in overtime to Kansas City.
Despite a disappointing season in 2024, the 49ers offered Purdy a five-year, $265 million contract in May. Before baby Millie arrived, the Purdys bought an off-season house in Nashville, Tennessee.
New Dad Brock Purdy Stays Anchored in Christ
From the beginning of his NFL career, Brock Purdy has clearly stated that his identity is in Jesus Christ.
In his most recent appearance on the “Sports Spectrum” podcast, the pro athlete talked about biblical submission and the importance of “denying yourself, picking up your cross, and following [Jesus] in all areas of your life.”
