Wonder Project and Kingdom Story Company are teaming up with Amazon MGM Studios to bring “Sarah’s Oil” to theaters on Nov. 7.
Based on an incredible true story about Sarah Rector, “Sarah’s Oil” stars Zachary Levi (“Shazam!,” “Chuck,” “The Unbreakable Boy”), Naya Desir-Johnson, (“The Equalizer”), Garret Dillahunt (“No Country for Old Men,” “12 Years a Slave”), and Sonequa Martin-Green (“The Walking Dead,” “Space Jam: A New Legacy”).
Rector is an African American girl born in Oklahoma Indian Territory in the early 1900s, and she believes oil is beneath the barren land she’s allotted. Eventually, her faith is proven right.
Following her discovery, Rector encounters greedy oil sharks and immediately turns to her family, friends, and some Texas wildcatters to maintain control of her oil-rich land.
“Sarah’s Oil” shares the story of how Rector becomes the first female African American millionaire—at 11 years old.
