The Isaacs are a Grammy-nominated southern gospel bluegrass music group that consists of Lily Isaacs, her daughters, Becky and Sonya, and her son, Ben.

The group recently became members of the Grand Ole Opry and are nominated for multiple Dove Awards this year—an honor that Sonya said “never gets old. It’s an amazing feeling to be recognized.”

Sonya told ChurchLeaders that nothing is like being able to sing with her family.

“I’ve sang with a lot of other artists, even other families, but there’s nothing like the blend of singing with your family and the comfort of being able to create together,” she said. “It’s wonderful. It’s the best thing in the world.”

On Friday, Sept. 5, The Isaacs will perform at 40 Days of Christian Music at The Ark Encounter. That festival started at The Ark Encounter Williamstown, Kentucky, on July 29 and ends with a concert by Crowder on Sept. 6.

“The crowd is always a fun one,” Sonya said. “People that come to The Ark are adventurous. They come to see The Ark, a lot of them for the first time, but many of them just come now for the concerts, because it’s turned into such a successful concert series.”

“They’re just always so receptive and warm and fun,” she continued. “We love just getting to go to The Ark every year and walk around there. It’s just a fun place to play. So we really look forward to it.”

Sonya shared how the band’s sound has allowed The Isaacs to be accepted into many different genres of music. “You’ve heard the term a square peg in a round hole. That’s kind of how The Isaacs have always been,” she said.
