On Sunday (Feb. 4), Lecrae, the “Church Clothes” Christian rap artist, added two more Grammys to his name during the 66th annual Grammy Awards, bringing his career total to four.
Lecrae won for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Your Power,” a song on which he collaborated with Tash Cobbs Leonard, and for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for “Church Clothes 4.”
The co-founder, co-owner, and president of Reach Records was accompanied at the Grammys by his daughter, and he shared on social media how important it was to him that she was there.
Both of Lecrae’s awards were given out during the pre-televised portion of the awards show.
While accepting the award for “Your Power,” Lecrae encouraged artists in the room to use the gifts God has given them to make an impact in the world.
“I want to say this. You know, the imprint of God has on each and every one of y’all’s lives,” Lecrae said. “Whether you take home an award or not, you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and you made this music, not to win an award, but to impact the world with the gift that God has put in you. Never forget that.”
