5. My Mom Is… Card

Supplies:

Construction paper of different colors
Sharpie
Crayons or markers (optional)
Glue stick
Piece of cardstock (8.5 X 11) in any color you’d like

Instructions:

Fold the piece of cardstock in half lengthwise to make the card. Set aside.

Using the construction paper, cut out two flower shapes. (For an easy template you can print then cut out, see here.)

To make the different colored flower petals for the second flower shape, either have your kids color each pedal a different color or cut out additional pedals using different colored construction paper. Glue the additional pedals onto the top flower using the glue stick.

In the center of the top flower, write the words “My Mom Is…”

Affix the two flowers together, aligning the pedals and placing the flower with the multi-colored pedals on the top. Important: Only glue the center of the flowers together as you want to be able to lift each of the pedals from the top flower up.

On the bottom flower on each of the pedals, write flattering attributes that describe Mom. Some examples include: “A blessing”, “Fun”, “Good at Yahtzee”, “Smart”, “Wise”, “Caring”, “My best friend”, “Beautiful”, “Funny”, “Hard-working”.

Now affix the bottom flower to the card using the glue stick (You can glue the entire back of the bottom flower onto the card so that it is stationary against the cardstock).

Now write Mom a nice note inside the card.
