Crystals, Tarot, and ‘Good Vibes’: What the Bible Actually Says.

“But Aren’t Crystals Part of God’s Creation?”

Yes—so are stars, oceans, and herbs. Creation is good (Genesis 1) and reveals God’s glory (Psalm 19). The problem is attribution: when we ascribe supernatural power to created objects, we replace the Creator with creation.

Wearing a stone as jewelry? Fine. Displaying a crystal for beauty? No problem. Assigning it protective energy or divine frequencies? That crosses into divination.

A Discernment Test for Any Practice

Ask three simple questions:

  1. Source — Does this practice claim spiritual power or guidance apart from the God of Scripture?

  2. Means — Does it depend on objects, rituals, or techniques instead of prayer and the Holy Spirit?

  3. End — Does it lead me into deeper love, holiness, and obedience to Jesus—or into self-obsession and false security?

If the answer is yes to the first two, or no to the third, it’s not for the follower of Christ.

The Appeal of “Soft Paganism”

Why do these practices attract so many, especially young people? Because they promise what our restless age craves: peace without surrender, power without repentance, belonging without obedience. They are easier to sell than the cross of Christ, which demands death to self before resurrection life.

This blending—sometimes called “Christian witchcraft” or “Christian paganism”—is dangerous because it looks spiritual while denying the authority of Christ. You can’t sprinkle Jesus on top of divination. He is not an accessory to self-made spirituality; He is Lord.

Replace, Don’t Just Remove

God doesn’t just say “no” to occult practices; He offers something better. Every counterfeit has a holy alternative:

  • Anxiety/peace — Instead of calming crystals, receive the peace of Christ (John 14:27; Philippians 4:6–9).

  • Guidance — Instead of tarot or astrology, let God’s Word and Spirit lead (Psalm 119:105; John 16:13).

  • Protection — Instead of charms or amulets, put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–18).

  • Manifesting — Instead of “I attract” affirmations, pray “Your will be done” (Matthew 6:10; 1 John 5:14–15).

The Gospel doesn’t just subtract sin; it fills life with the presence of Jesus.

A Mini-Parable: The Dimmer Switch

A homeowner dimmed their outdoor light so it wouldn’t seem harsh. Burglaries increased. The light wasn’t rude—it was protective. Similarly, biblical clarity isn’t narrow or unkind. It’s the only thing that keeps us safe. Keep the light on full.

Steps to Freedom

1. Confess and renounce (out loud):
“Lord Jesus, I confess using ___ for guidance/protection/peace. I renounce every practice that seeks power apart from You. Forgive me, cleanse me, and fill me with the Holy Spirit.”

2. Remove access: Delete apps, throw out tarot decks or occult books, and dispose of “charged” crystals.

3. Replace with grace: Daily Scripture reading, prayer, worship, and fellowship. (Start with John, Colossians, and Proverbs.)

4. Keep filled (Matthew 12:43–45): Participate in communion, memorize verses on peace, and serve others. An empty house invites return; a filled house stays protected.

A Pastoral Word

If you’ve dabbled in crystals, horoscopes, or tarot, you are not beyond grace. The cross of Christ covers it all. Don’t let shame keep you silent or stuck. Confess, renounce, and walk forward in freedom. Your testimony may be exactly what another confused believer needs to hear.

A Closing Prayer

Jesus, Prince of Peace, I give You my fears and my future. Be my wisdom, my protection, and my joy. Close every door I opened to counterfeits, and open wide the door of Your presence. Teach me to hear Your voice in Scripture and by the Holy Spirit. I belong to You—body, mind, and spirit. Amen.

The Takeaway

Crystals, tarot, horoscopes, and “good vibes” may seem like small, trendy practices. But Scripture reveals them for what they are: counterfeits of God’s presence and promises. The good news? Jesus is not only enough—He is better. His peace outshines crystals, His wisdom surpasses tarot, His Spirit leads more surely than any horoscope.

So keep the light bright. Keep the Word open. Keep Christ central. He is the only solid ground in an age of shifting shadows.
